SUMMARY:39th Wheel\, Walk or Jog & Family Carnival
DESCRIPTION:Our Dear Donor\,  \nYOUR HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! \nI’m Goh Ah Kai\, aged 64 years old. My husband\, Lim Tow Kin\, aged 66 years old\, suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2002 that has left him partly paralysed with memory impairment and dependent on me for his daily living activities. With the increased caregiving needs\, I had to quit my full-time job and work part-time. It is a heavy load on me both physically and financially. \n     \nMr. Lim Tow Kin performing rehab therapy  \nI am very grateful to HWA for providing subsidized rehabilitation service to my husband. Over time with long-term rehabilitation\, my husband’s condition has gradually improved. He is now more mobile and able to stand with some assistance. In addition\, through working as Therapist Assistant at HWA rehabilitation center\, I am able to take care of my husband whilst supporting HWA rehabilitation services to other beneficiaries. Over the last financial year\, 325 beneficiaries with mobility issues have received more than 8\,000 rehabilitation sessions from HWA. \n \nHWA hopes to extend help to more seniors and the vulnerable in the community. With the easing of the Covid-19 restriction\, HWA is organising its 39th Wheel\, Walk or Jog & Family Carnival on Saturday\, 27 May 2023\, 11am to 7pm\, at OCBC Square_Singapore Sports Hub. This event aims to provide a social outreach platform for the community and helps HWA to raise funds to support its programmes and services for beneficiaries or clients who face the same medical and financial situation like my husband.   \nWith your kind donations\, even a little means a lot to us. I hope you can help HWA to help us by donating via Giving.sg donation platform at https://s.giving.sg/BHYaf75. \nThank you so much for being part of our community\, and we wish you good health and peace!  \nWarmly yours\,  \nGoh Ah Kai   \nOn behalf of Mr Lim & all HWA beneficiaries and Staff

SUMMARY:Thank you for being a blessing in our lives!
DESCRIPTION:Our Dear Friend\, \nTHANK YOU FOR BEING A BLESSING IN OUR LIVES! \nFive years have passed since my appeal to support HWA’s mission of serving persons with physical disabilities (PWDs) and the elderly. \nHWA’s twice-weekly bathing (showering) and weekly personalised home nursing service (trimming of hair and changing of tubes monthly) has eased caregiving efforts for my family which we are ever appreciative of. \nIn these few years\, I have also seen some gradual improvements physically. Initially\, I was unable to move my limbs and legs and could only be on a strict liquid diet. Currently\, I am able to respond to questions by raising my right hand when my family engages in conversations with me. Also\, my diet has incorporated some small solid food pieces as well since I am able to chew better now. Hopefully\, I can be off tube feeding soon! \nOn behalf of all our beneficiaries\, myself\, Pei Ling\, Thimajit and Juraimi “Thank You” for being a Blessing to our lives and sharing your gifts to help us this festive season. \n  \n\n\n\n\nPei Ling \n\nThimajit \n\nJuraimi \n\n\n\nWe seek your support by donating via our Giving.sg campaign at https://s.giving.sg/eyRtgQ3 or donating directly via our website by clicking the donate button below. We wish you and your loved ones Good Health and Many Happy Returns! \n  \nSincerely\, \n  \nSiew Han \nOn behalf of HWA Beneficiaries and Staff(Signed on her behalf by her mother)

SUMMARY:Flagday 2022 (Donation Campaign)
DESCRIPTION:Our Dear Donors\, \nThank you for being part of our community. \nI am Lee Pei Ling\, my husband George Ng\, and the joy of our life\, our precious son\, Matthew. Both I and my husband are HWA’s beneficiaries. \nDue to a virus attack when I was 13 months old\, I suffered from weakness in both my hands and legs -a medical condition known as Quadriparesis. My condition deteriorated when I was 18 years old after which I have to depend on a wheelchair for mobility. George suffers from paralysis on the right side of his body due to a stroke he suffered when he was 17 years old. \nOur son Matthew was born in 2014. When the nurse first placed baby Matthew near me\, just after his birth\, I could not stop crying. It was a miracle to have my baby as I never dreamt that I would ever be a mother with my disabilities. Even now I feel deeply emotional whenever I hold my son. He is in Primary 1 this year. \nBoth I and my husband are thankfully\, gainfully employed as an administrative assistants and a graphic designers respectively. We have many people to thank for in our journey. My supportive family\, and HWA for providing us with subsidised transport\, rehabilitation services\, and many social and recreational activities. \nThank you so much our Dear Donor for your blessings in our life’s journey! We are grateful for your continued support all these years and during these difficult and unpredictable times. \nWarmly yours \nPei Ling\, George & Matthew\nOn behalf of HWA beneficiaries & Staff

SUMMARY:38th Annual Wheel\, Walk or Jog 2022 (Donation Campaign)
DESCRIPTION:Our Dear Donor\, \n  \nCOUNTING ON YOUR FULLEST SUPPORT \n  \n2021 has been another challenging year for all of us. It has been a year since I have appealed to you to support HWA’s mission of serving persons with physical disabilities (PWDs) and the elderly. \nLike last year\, HWA is organizing our 38th Annual Wheel Walk or Jog (WWJ) event virtually as we are still unable to organize physical activity because of the pandemic. HWA’s virtual WWJ 2022 event hopes to reach out to more people to raise funds for our programmes and services. \nWe would like to invite you\, together with your family\, friends\, and colleagues\, to join us for our virtual WWJ 2022 event. You can log in to https://web.42race.com/race-bundle/wwj2022 to register for the virtual event from 1 April to 31 May 2022. You can participate\, at your own pace\, in any of the 5 wheel-walk-jog race categories of 3km\, 5km\, 10km\, 20km\, or 50km which starts from 1 to 30 Jun 2022\, either individually or in a small group of 5 members in a responsible and safe way. We hope to have 3\,000 participants complete a total distance of 8\,000 km. \nWe know we can count on you to support our cause with your participation\, donation\, or sponsorship of a virtual WWJ Wheelchair ride: E-Bannerette\, which will be displayed here on our website. HWA is very grateful to you. Your donation will enable HWA to continue the needed services\, such as the Wheelchair Accessible Transport\, Home Care\, Rehabilitation\, and Social Services\, for the community. \nOn behalf of all HWA beneficiaries and staff\, thank you so much for sharing your blessings with us. We wish you and your family the Best of Health and Many Happy Returns!

SUMMARY:Flag day 2021
DESCRIPTION:Our Dear Donors\, \n \nThank you for being part of our community. \nI am Lee Pei Ling\, my husband George Ng\, and the joy of our life\, our precious son\, Matthew. Both I and my husband are HWA’s beneficiaries. \nDue to a virus attack when I was 13 months old\, I suffered from weakness in both my hands and legs-a medical condition known as Quadriparesis. My condition deteriorated when I was 18 years old after which I have to depend on wheelchair for mobility. \nBoth I and my husband are thankfully\, gainfully employed as an administrative assistant and a graphic designer respectively. We have many people to thank for our journey. My supportive family\, and HWA for providing us with subsidized transport\, rehabilitation services\, and many social and recreational activities. \nThank you so much our Dear Donor for your blessings in our life’s journey! We are grateful for your continued support all these years and during these difficult and unpredictable times. \nWarmly yours \nPei Ling\, George & Matthew\nOn behalf of HWA beneficiaries & Staff \n  \nTo donate please click the button below. \n \nFor further queries\, please contact 6254 3006 Ext 121 (Josephine Chua) or Ext 123 (Thevi) or email: hwa@hwa.org.sg \n***Featured photo was taken before COVID-19***

SUMMARY:Impacting Lives #ThankYouForYourBlessing!
DESCRIPTION:Our Dear Donor\, \nHi\, I’m Thimajit. My fellow beneficiaries-Juraimi and Siew Han\, who wrote to you for the past festive seasons\, send their best regards to you. I’m born with cerebral palsy\, a condition that affected my movement\, posture\, and muscle tone of the left side of my body. Instead of feeling sorry and find life meaningless\, I have taken the day-to-day challenges in my stride and am determined to be cheerful and positive in life. The doctor has advised me to attend rehabilitation sessions to maintain my functional abilities and prevent further deterioration. Traveling to rehabilitation sessions poses a challenge to me both physically and financially. \n\n   \nThankfully\, Handicaps Welfare Association (HWA) has been providing me with heavily subsidized rehabilitation and wheelchair-accessible transport service since 2013 to take the burden off my father\, who is a taxi driver and sole breadwinner. My mother has to stay home to care for me.\nHWA has been experiencing a challenging period due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is because of the magnanimity of donors like your good self that HWA is able to continue its mission of serving people with physical disabilities and the elderly. \nOn behalf of all our beneficiaries\, myself\, Juraimi and Siew Han would like to say “Thank You” for being a Blessing in our lives and for sharing your gifts to help us during this festive season. \nWith Best Wishes this Season greeting. \nWarmly yours\,\nThimajit Singh\nOn behalf of HWA beneficiaries & Staff

SUMMARY:Counting on you during these Difficult Times!
DESCRIPTION:Our Dear Donor \n11 years ago\, I was an abled body person with a job to support my wife and our 2 years old daughter. Suddenly\, our lives were turned upside down\, and my life would be changed forever. \nMy nightmare began in 2009. I was found unconscious\, collapsed near my house. I woke up the next day with slurred speech\, which was discovered to be a brain injury. Due to the injury\, my physical and mental health has deteriorated to a stage where I am now dependent for help on most of my self-care activities. \nMy wife had to take care of me and our 2 years old daughter. It was a heavy load for my wife to cope as she had to work to support the family. Fortunately my elderly mother took over as my main caregiver\, and my elderly father\, who works as a groundskeeper\, is always around to ensure our well-being. \nTo have my family going through the hardship of taking care of me\, pains me deeply especially for my elderly parents who are getting weaker as the years go by. I was relieved when help came from HWA Home Care\, which allowed me to be cared of from home and not be admitted into a care facility. \n  \n[layerslider id=”3″] \n  \nI have been a beneficiary of HWA’s home care services for many years. I am ever grateful to HWA\, for providing me with Home Personal Care Services to lighten the burden on my mother. HWA staff showers me and provides other personal care services throughout the week. Even during these trying times of Covid-19\, HWA Home Care staff have worked tirelessly to continue to provide these essential services to beneficiaries like me at a heavily subsidized rate. This is made possible because of the magnanimity of Donors like you\, for which myself and other HWA beneficiaries are grateful for. \nWe look forward to your continued support during these difficult times. On behalf of all the beneficiaries and staff\, we wish you good Health and Peace! Thank You and Please Stay Safe! \n  \nYours sincerely\,\nChoy Chee Wai\nOn behalf of All HWA beneficiaries \n

SUMMARY:Journey With Our Beneficiaries
DESCRIPTION:Dear Donor\, \n  \nI’m Thimajit Singh\, and I was born with cerebral palsy. When I completed my schooling at a special school in 2013\, I was advised by my doctor to attend regular rehabilitation sessions to maintain my functional abilities and prevent deterioration. Traveling to rehabilitation sessions poses a challenge for me both physically and financially. I am very happy that I found HWA. Thankfully\, HWA’s accessible vans have enabled me to get to and from my weekly rehabilitation sessions. \n  \nWith your kind help\, HWA is able to provide me with affordable transportation and rehabilitation sessions at a heavily subsidized rate. I like coming to HWA as I can meet my friends and it makes me very happy. I feel blessed\, as\, without HWA’s support\, I would not have any other means to get my much-needed rehabilitation therapy. I hope you can help HWA to help us. No help or donation is too small\, to make a meaningful difference. \n  \n[layerslider id=”2″] \n  \nPlease join me and my fellow beneficiaries at HWA’s 36th Annual Wheel\, Walk or Jog and Family Carnival 2020(WWJ 2020) on Sat\, 11th Jul 2020\, 11 am to 7 pm\, at Queen Elizabeth Walk\, Esplanade Park. SUMMARY:A story about our member Juraimi Bin Jaafar
DESCRIPTION:I’m Juraimi Bin Jaafar\, one of more than 4000 lives impacted on a yearly basis\, from your generous donation. \nBeing born with cerebral palsy has always been tough for my aged mother who is currently my sole caregiver. My father\, who suffers from dementia\, has been in a nursing home for many years. Thankfully\, I could rely on the dedicated\, door-to-door transport services\, with fees absorbed\, by Handicaps Welfare Association (HWA). HWA’s timely wheelchair-accessible vans have enabled me to get to my weekly rehabilitation. \nI look forward to going to HWA for my rehabilitation therapy\, with fees also fully waived\, to help maintain my physical and functional abilities. As most of my movements are restricted and limited\, I strongly feel that regular rehabilitation sessions help me to maintain my physical conditions and minimizing further deterioration. I hope you can continue to help HWA to continue its mission in helping the needy people with disabilities like me. No help or donation is too small\, to make a meaningful difference to people like us. \nFor the past 50 years\, HWA has been able to carry out its mission due to the continued support and generosity of Big- Hearted donors like you. On behalf of all the HWA beneficiaries\, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to you. A big ‘Thank You’ in advance for your kind support! \n \nTo make a donation please click the link below.
