Dear Donor,
I am Chia Boon Hong, 73 years old. I once had a fulfilling career as a PUB engineer, working alongside my wife — a dedicated former nurse — to raise our three children. Life was stable and purposeful until everything changed at age 45
In 1997, I was suddenly struck by transverse myelitis, leaving me unable to walk and dependent on my wife for many daily activities. Despite my condition, I did my best to care for my older brother, who has an intellectual disability, by arranging for a helper to ensure he was properly looked after.

Life has been challenging, but for the past 15 years, HWA’s Rehabilitation Services have been a vital source of support. The sessions help relieve tension and stiffness in my body, keep my muscles toned, enable me to remain physically functional and mentally alert.
I am just one of many individuals who rely on HWA’s vital services. Whether it’s rehabilitation or the prescription of mobility devices, these services have greatly improved my overall well-being and helped me regain my dignity — thanks to the respectful care provided by the staff. None of this would be possible without the generosity of donors like you.
As the year comes to a close, I sincerely hope you will support individuals like myself and many others facing even greater challenges, so that HWA can continue its impactful work. With heartfelt gratitude,
Chia Boon Hong
